Why this, why now: A Mom's Path to Creative Fulfillment
Who Am I
Hello! I am Radhika and I wear many hats. I'm a devoted mother to an incredibly active toddler, a loving wife to my crazy but wonderful husband, and a software engineer by profession. But I am more than just my titles. I find joy in the simple things, like taking in the fragrance of flowers after a spring rain or creating art on a canvas. I also enjoy my long runs.
Defining myself is not limited to a set number of activities or events that have occurred in my life. Instead, I am the product of all my experiences from childhood to now, with each day adding new perspectives and insights.
Growing up, as a kid, I wanted to be a school teacher. Then, I wanted to be an architect. In college, I wanted to be an engineer. When I started working for the software industry, I wanted to be the best software builder.
However, as I matured, I came to realize that true happiness is internal rather than external. I began to realize the importance of doing more of what makes me happy. Bringing a landscape to life on a canvas made my day much more than anything else. Or the rush of adrenaline as I am finishing up an hour-long run in the rains.
Why this, why now
Life is full of opportunities for self-discovery and growth. One such moment for me came while trying to get my little one to eat dinner. To make mealtime more engaging, I began to craft stories on the spot, and to my surprise, my toddler was captivated. I repeated the process over the next few days, and although my little one ate well (which is always a win for a parent!), I discovered a newfound passion for storytelling. It was a natural talent that I never knew I had, and it had a positive impact on my child.
As I continued to create new characters and weave different experiences into my stories, my child eagerly anticipated each new installment. Eventually, I realized that these stories had the potential to help other children as well. I wanted to share them with other families and give back to the community that had supported me and my husband in raising our ultra-active child.
That's when the idea came to me: why not turn these stories into books? It was a way to share the joy of storytelling and create a meaningful impact in the lives of other children. I'm grateful for the opportunity to explore this new passion, and I'm excited to see where it takes me.
